How many hours is the Armed Guard Course

and where is it held?

 

The course runs 16 hours in length with the class starting at 9:00 AM at 10798 N. 75th Avenue Ste #A-5, Peoria, Arizona.  

The classrooms are air-conditioned for your comfort.  One hour is spent outdoors for qualification on the range.

Feel free to bring drinks, snacks & a lunch. A refrigerator is on site.

 

 

How long is my Armed Guard Card good for?

 

Two (2) Years.  There is NO grace period beyond your expiration date.  If you do not meet the requirements of renewal within 60 days of your permit expiration, then you must re-take the full 16 Hour Armed Guard  Course.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

 

When must I renew my Armed Guard Card and how soon before my expiration date may I take the required renewal class?

 

Each Armed Guard card is good for a period of 2 years. A 8 hour refresher class is required each year.

 

 

What topics are covered in this 16 Hour Armed Guard Course?

 

Everything listed and required in the Arizona Department of Public Safety Security Guard Firearms Training Program Lesson Plan.

 

 

 

What is included in the Armed Guard course fee of $140.00?

 

All required AZ DPS Armed Guard application forms, all related printed material, Fingerprinting, Range Fees and Certificate of Completion.

 

 

Are there any fees that need to be paid to DPS (The Department of Public Safety)?

 

Yes, for both the Unarmed & Armed Guard Card you must pay a $50.00 fee for the guard card itself and if you have not

been fingerprinted in the last 90 days, then you must pay DPS an additional $24.00 for them to process your

fingerprint card and complete the background check.

They will do an NCIC check among other things to make sure you are qualified to be an Armed Guard.

 

 

How old must I be to receive my AZ Armed Guard Card?

 

 

You must be 18 Years of age.

 

 

Am I required to use my own handgun, and if so

are there any special requirements?

 

We ask that you bring whatever handgun you feel comfortable with.  You may use a revolver or semi-automatic pistol that is in good working order.  Any caliber between .22 cal and .45 cal is acceptable.

 

 

 

What if I do not have access to a handgun?

 

UBP can provide you with a semi-automatic pistol as long as you request a rental pistol at the time of registration.  

 

 

Handguns available are the XD .40 or Glock 9mm semi automatic pistols.

 

 

 

 

What am I required to bring to class?

 

Pen (black ink only) and note taking materials, your handgun (unloaded and in a case or holster), a quality strong side holster, 50 rounds of factory target ammunition and eye and ear protection.  Eye and ear protection can be rented

on-site at the time of the class is available at a cost of

$.00 for eye protection and $.00 for ear protection.
